There are plenty of things to do in this great city and some great selections from Travel Clearance for budget hotels and cheap holiday packages.
Indianapolis travel is popular for a number of reasons. Firstly, and perhaps most famously, Indianapolis is known as the "Racing Capital of the World" due to the proximity of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Indy 500 and Allstate 400 at the Brickyard.
Besides all the sporting events, there are also some fun festivals and interesting museums too.

Indianapolis prides itself on its rich culture and it’s vast array of annual activities include events ranging from wine festivals and music festivals, to art fairs and quilt shows. The Vintage Indiana Wine & Food Fest brings over a dozen Indiana wineries together in downtown Indy, offering samples of their finest, and the festivals and activities just keep coming for the summer months and beyond. There’s the Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration, with African Americans from all over heading to Indy every summer to celebrate life and culture, then the Indianapolis International Film Festival where Indie films are hosted in non-pretentious environments. The Indiana State Fair is the biggest summer event in the state, with animals, crafts, art, rides, dancing, education, environmentalism, Hoosier Pride and lots of great food! And the Indy Fringe Festival offers local, national and international theatre groups, performance art, visual artists and dance groups - uncensored and unique. If that’s not enough, you can catch Oktoberfest, Indy style, later in the year for lots of German food and beer, or the home-grown Rib America Fest when you can feast on ribs, have few drinks and listen to some tunes at this summer-time fest.
The museums that the city has on offer should also be added to your to do list. Indianapolis offers a number of different museum options including the Indianapolis Museum of Art, a contemporary art museum, the National Art Museum of Sport, of course, and a popular family attraction is the Children’s Musuem.
For outdoor activities and attractions, Indianapolis doesn’t fall short of options either. There’s the Indianapolis Zoo, which has a fabulous dolphin exhibit, the Dolphin Adventures Gallery and Dome and literally hundreds of diverse parks to explore while on holiday. There’s Garfield Park, home to the Sunken Gardens, three acres of European classical formal gardens built in 1916, and White River State Park, with acres of gardens and pathways along the White River as two of the more popular choices.
For a taste of Indianapolis history, you can walk the streets of Lockerbie, the oldest surviving neighbourhood,.which dates back to 1847 and featuring an amazing array of Victorian homes still maintained in their original beauty, or just pay a visit to the Indiana Historical Society which will present you with some fascinating exhibits and stories.
Indianapolis has a colourful calendar of events and attractions, music, art, food and sport, day and night, inside and outside, to keep you busy no matter what time of year you find yourself in this exciting city.
