The nearby Sea Gypsy Island is another popular stop, where you are able to shop for souvenirs and admire a village built entirely on stilts.
Phuket has some very good dive sites and is the centre of diving in Thailand. Most dive sites are off nearby islands, but distances are fairly short and there are dozens of dive shops and boats to cater to your needs, mostly based near Chalong Bay. The reefs around the area are in a healthy condition with both solid hard corals and colorfully soft corals. There is also an abundance of marine life. Phuket also has sailing yachts of virtually every size and for all budgets on offer to explore the surrounding beautiful islands on a yacht charter.
After sunset, another aspect of Phuket holidays awaits you—its fabulous nightlife. Most of the entertainment action is centred in Patong Beach on the southwestern side of the island. The area is alive with activity, with gogo bars, fire dancers, live music and spicy, culinary delights. Most of the beaches have a variety of restaurants and bars, so you’ll never be far from the activity wherever you stay. If you’re looking for something a bit more reclusive, you should head for the Northern beaches, where you can sometimes find a beach all to yourself.For a more local atmosphere you should try Phuket City, where you can find some great local markets and restaurants too.
